Community Mobilization Intensive Workshop

course was developed to provide practical tools for development
professionals to engage communities in self-empowered participatory
development. This course will help develop strategies for understanding
power dynamics in community development, increase trust and
communication, and enhance participation in development programs.
Location: Colorado State University campus
Tuition: $800 per participant*
*Organizations sponsoring 6 or more participants to attend this course
receive a 5% discount on tuition.
Day 1: The Role of Empowerment in Sustainable Development
The course will introduce participants to participatory mapping
techniques, a brief history of development practice, gauging levels of
participation, and the role of humanization in truly sustaining
Day 2: Power Dynamics, NGOs, and Development
course will cover theories of community-based development, activities
to analyze and work through power dynamics, organizational mapping
techniques, and discussions on NGO/Community dynamics.
Day 3: Empowerment in Action
Participants will learn facilitation techniques, PRA/ PLA tools, and
strategic planning activities to engage communities in the development
Day 4: Participatory Tools for Action/Reflection
Action plan formation, participatory monitoring and evaluation, and discussion methods will close out the workshop activities.
