Organisation activities in brief:

This organisation has addressed the needs of marginalised communities living in extremely poor settings for over 21 years. They offer needs based, qualitative and sustainable programs in the field of drug treatment and HIV/AIDS. Programs include awareness and prevention, counselling, crisis care and detoxification. In addition, the organisation provides an organic vegetable farm as a source of livelihood for recovered drug users and a means to re-enter mainstream society. The organisation seeks to challenge prejudices within existing social structures and influence policy at all levels.

-       Working towards the communication, documentation and development of an organic farm that creates livelihoods for recovered substance users

-       Contributing to an organisation that has a long history of improving the lives of substances users and alleviating poverty in marginalised communities

 

Language preference of volunteers: English and Hindi

 

Main duties for volunteers:

Depending on individual skills and experience:

-       Documentation of farm history, achievements, growth and returns

-       Creation of client case studies

-       Networking with other organisations and companies to promote the farm

-       Online promotion of the farm

-       Creation of flyers and other communications

-       Marketing produce to new suppliers

-       Overall communication plan

 

Attributes/Qualities required:

-       Motivated and committed

-       Good communication, writing skills and computer skills

-       Ability to identify documentation needs and pro-actively undertake them

-       Any previous communication, marketing or media experience is advantageous

 

Volunteer duration: One month minimum
