Volunteer in Manali forDog Sterilisation and Vaccination camps
Organisation activities in brief: This organisation has been in operation since 2007 and focuses on street dog sterilisation and vaccination. It encompasses 43 villages in Himachal Pradesh and aims to make Manali and its surrounding areas rabies free.
The organisation runs weekly dog sterilisation camps where volunteers are required to care for the dogs. It also cares for sick or injured animals and Manali residents can bring their own pets to Heaven on Earth’s for treatment.
The organisation also hopes to vaccinate and sterilise monkeys in the future in order to control the monkey population of the local area.
Project location: Manali, Himachal Pradesh
Project Start Date: Ongoing except during snow fall periods
Project highlights:
-Assisting a small, grass roots level NGO meet their goals and objectives
-Working with dogs (and potentially other animals)
-Volunteering a beautiful mountain location
Language preference of volunteers: English and Hindi (not necessary)
Main duties for volunteers:
-Care, feeding and cleaning of dogs (and their enclosures) brought to the sterilisation camps. Volunteers are not required to capture the dogs.
-Qualified veterinarians and veterinarian nurses are also required for actual sterilisation and vaccination
Attributes/Qualities required:
-Motivated and committed
-Fondness of dogs and a careful and sensible attitude when handling them
-Please no drug users
Volunteer duration: One week to long term (depending on volunteer’s availability and commitment)
Age Range: 18 and over

Transport details (if available): Volunteers will need to use own methods of transport to reach the dog camp e.g., auto rickshaws or hired motorbike.
