Volunteer in India to teach formal and vocational education
Name of the Project: Promoting formal and vocational education at the village level
Highlights: This volunteering opportunity allows you to work with an organisation that provides catalytic support to government schools. Furthermore, a teacher's resource centre is required to be set up to make teaching more interesting and engaging for teachers. The villages where you would be volunteering currently have a poor quality of education.
The youth in these villages do not have ample employment skills. There is demand for learning computer skills, English speaking, vocational skills such as embroidery and handicrafts for women. There is also shortage of trained manpower who can impart these skills. Classes are proposed for batches of youth at the village level.
This organisation focuses on addressing sustainable development in India’s rural communities through empowerment of local institutions and community participation. A multidisciplinary approach has been adopted and an “Integrated Sustainable Village Development” (ISVD) model is used.
